Visitor Application Process

For international visitors, there are two types of visas.

Visiting international students coming for 3 months or longer are encouraged to apply for the Study Abroad Research program. This means they will be issued with a student card and therefore eligible for student discounts in Australia, including on public transport.

Study Abroad Research Program

This program is managed centrally by the University.

Eligibility requirements and necessary documentation is listed here.

Instructions on how to apply are here.

There are set intake dates in February, May, August and November each year. You will need to arrive some time during these set months.

Visitor Appointment

If you are not a student, or if you are coming for less than 3 months, you can apply for a 408 visa. For us to initiate this process, we will require from you the following information.

  • Start and end dates of your visit (approximate dates are fine)
  • A copy of your CV
  • Your full name, as given in your passport
  • Date of birth
  • Passport number
  • Home institution
  • Confirmation that during your visit, you will be working on a project closely related to your current course or current research.
  • Project title
  • Project details
    • Aims and scope
    • Justification for research
    • Visitor's research activities
