I am a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Melbourne. I received my PhD from the University of Cambridge, and an MEng in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Bristol. I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge, and I also held a JSPS research fellowship at Keio University in Japan. I currently hold a Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA, 2015-2018).
My research involves applying methods from dynamical systems and control theory to flow instabilities. I apply these methods to problems in fluid mechanics (shear flows); in thermoacoustics (combustion oscillations); and in aeroacoustics (cavity oscillations).
I am always interested in receiving PhD applications from motivated students with a highly-ranked Masters degree from a top university. More details on the PhD programme at the University of Melbourne can be found here. For an idea of the type of projects you could work on, see my publications and videos.
