SOCIAL EVENTS



The main events are

Sunday 23 August

All-day pre-conference tour of the Yarra Valley, including
9:00 am Departure from the conference hotel
Morning Healesville sanctuary of Australian native animals, including kangaroos, koalas, platypus, and birds of prey.
Lunch At Lovey's Restaurant
Afternoon  Trip through lush native rainforest
6:00 pm Return to the conference hotel
Warm clothing is recommended. Cost: $A80.

Monday 24 August

Welcome reception for SIGIR delegates at the Melbourne Town Hall. All conferences registrants and their partners are invited to attend.

Tuesday 25 August

Newcomer's breakfast for those who have not previously attended SIGIR. Please indicate on your registration form if this is your first SIGIR and would like to attend this breakfast at the Sofitel Hotel.

Wednesday 26 August

Conference dinner at Le Meridien on Collin St, including a ticket to the 55th-floor observation deck at the Rialto Tower. Costs prohibit us from including this event in the student registration fee; students that wish to attend must purchase a ticket. Cost of additional dinner tickets: $A80.

Saturday 29 August

See an Australian Rules football match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (Geelong vs Essendon, for those that care). Cost: not yet set, but probably about $A30.
