Abstract

Descriptions of new indexing techniques are a common outcome of database research, but these descriptions are sometimes marred by poor methodology and a lack of comparison to other schemes. In this paper we describe a framework for presentation and comparison of indexing schemes that we believe sets a minimum standard for development and presentation of research results in this area.
