My name is Seyed Mohammad Hossein Oloomi, written سید محمد حسین علومی in Persian. It’s a long name I know! I remember there was a Facebook app that could show one’s friends’ names sorted by length; I was always ranked first! ;-)

I received my BSc in Computer Engineering (Software Engineering) and my MSc in Computer Engineering (Algorithms & Computation) from The University of Tehran.

During my Masters I spent a year working as a research assistant at the Department of Systems Biology & Bioinformatics, University of Rostock, Germany.

My research area is Bioinformatics and I'm currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Computing and Information Systems at The University of Melbourne. I'm investigating the impact of sequence ambiguity in read mapping.
