Abstract
The aim of this paper is to develop a basic conceptual structure used to quantify life cycle greenhouse gas emission of building and construction. The issues relevant to the developed framework were discussed with respect to office buildings. It was found that identifications of the materials used and construction process applied, the service life span of the building, embodied greenhouse gas emission (or carbon dioxide intensity ratios) of building materials used, life cycle primary energy used and the full fuel cycle emission factors of the energy used, are essential for the estimation of annual life cycle greenhouse gas emission.
Keywords: Building and construction; GHG emission; carbon dioxide intensity ratio.
