Abstract

The contribution of a 30 m2 solar air heater, integrated into the roof of a proposed meat drying facility, has been predicted using the simulation software, TRNSYS. The design capacity of the dryer is 100 kg of fresh meat per day and the location of the facility is southern NSW. The solar fraction for the system was found to be 49%. A simple financial analysis of the system indicated that a payback period of two and half years could be expected.
