Abstract

Simple correlations are presented for the thermophysical properties of propane, covering the temperature range -40C to 60C and pressure range 110 kPa to 2120 kPa. The equations are compared with the tabulated values given by ASHRAE (1989) and Goodwin & Haynes (982). The correlations compare favorably. Computer subroutines suitable transient analysis and optimisation study of propane refrigeration systems, have been developed. An example calculation using the subroutines, for a simple vapour compression cycle is given.
