Abstract
The theoretical vapour compression cycles for propane and CFC-12 have been simulated. The standard refrigeration performance parameters of the cycles were compared and the simulation results are presented. In terms of theoretical COP, the two refrigerants are comparables. Dimensions of capillary tubes were estimated using a simple model. It is concluded that changes of capillary tube and compressor are needed when using propane as a refrigerant in a refrigerator designed for CFC-12.
