The Twenty-First Annual International ACM-SIGIR Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval, jointly hosted by the Departments of Computer Science at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and the University of Melbourne, will be held in Melbourne, Australia, from the 24th to the 28th of August 1998.

Tutorials and workshops will be held at the Melbourne Town Hall, ten minutes walk from the conference venue. The banquet will be held at the Le Meridien Hotel, fifteen minutes walk from the conference venue. Banquet tickets include admission to the nearby 55th floor Rialto observation deck. All other conference events will be held at the Sofitel Hotel in central Melbourne.
