Abstract

An experimental framework for the evaluation of statistically generated phrases is described. Two methods are considered. The first compares the phrases with those found by a natural language processing system; while the second examines the ability to locate all instances of each phrase. The motivation for this work is to determine the usefulness of statistically generated phrases in a document retrieval system.
